Turn Your Name Into a Face

Don't you just hate it when you sign up on a forum or blog comment system and everyone has cool avatars, but you don't? If you aren't too picky about it, why not just punch your name into Turn Your Name Into a Face, and let it come up with something for you out of 100,000 possible faces.

Now, granted, the options may leave a bit to be desired; they're all black pixel art on a random pale background color. But there are enough options to be somewhat entertaining. It's particularly fun to punch friends' and family members' names into it to see what they might look like, or at least what you can tease them with.

The scariest thing is that sometimes it can be very, very accurate. Though, results may vary :D

Next Windows to be called... Windows 7

Microsoft looks like it's settled on an official name for its next-gen OS, Windows 7. According to Mike Nash on the Vista blog, the company went with Windows 7 because it "just makes sense" as the seventh release of Windows, and MS doesn't want to come up with a new "aspirational" name like Vista -- it "doesn't do justice" to the goal of staying "firmly rooted" in the ideas of Vista.

Anything that is 'firmly rooted' in the ideas of Vista has already failed in my opinion. This could of been their chance to turn a new leaf, but looks like the Vista style is hanging around for a bit longer.

http://static.stickam.com/media/video/converted/1737/9488/2/6b9e3007-17c4-11dc-963e-3fec773ac911.flv.jpgYou know, that time you got 'Rick-Rolled'?

When you got tricked into watching 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley?

Well, Mr Richard Astley has been shorlisted for the MTV Eurpoe Awards for his song 'Never Gonna Give You Up'

Since 'The Internet' got him this far, they are making sure they do everything they can to make him win. Even if that means spamming the voting process. The idea is as follows:

  1. Rickrolling phase 2 is go!
  2. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863
  3. Install the AddOn
  4. Restart Firefox
  5. Go to the voting page. (http://ema.mtv.co.uk/vote/)
  6. Go to the Rec tab of the imacro mod.
  7. Put in a value over 9000. Click record, then go through the full 3 click motion of voting.
  8. Then click Stop.
  9. GO back to the play tab of the mod.
  10. Put a VERY high number (i went with 9001) in the repeat box

The new DSi

Nintendo just announced a new version of the DS, called the DSi.

The DSi will be 12 percent thinner, and will get rid of the GBA slot entirely. The DSi will also include two built-in cameras and music playback. It will add an SD card slot and internal storage to enhance its multimedia capabilities. The screens are now slightly larger at 3.25 inches, photos can be synced to the Wii Photo Channel, and the unit will include a free browser application.

Nice xD

Play Tetris in Terminal

Terminal for mac boasts some cool, but hidden features that we like to call "Easter eggs." These "eggs" are hidden features that the developers build in (mostly for fun or laughs), that don't have anything to do with the functionality of the program.

One of these "eggs" is the ability to play Tetris in Terminal. Here's how to do it. First, open a new Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities) window and type "emacs," then hit enter. After the screen loads, press "escape," then "x." Type "tetris" (lower-case) and hit enter. There you have it, a fully playable game of Tetris. Use the arrow keys to control the blocks.

Oooookay...

Watch this, then think:

Actually.

What the hell.

'The Office' is Genius

So we all know The Office, the tv show written and stared Ricky Gervais that got real famous. I never really watched it because I honestly didn't think it was all that great.

And then the Americans go and make their own version of the same show. After watching a few youtube video clips of it, I ask myself:

Why have I not started watching this before?

I urge you to check out some videos on youtube, they are simply hilarious :D
